NEW SERVICE
.....If you are moving or building a new home in Thumb Electric Cooperative’s service area, you will need to apply for service. If you are a member of TEC, you will not need to take out a membership. If you are not a member of TEC, you will need to pay a one-time membership fee of $5.00. The hookup fee for the new service is $50.00. 
.....Thumb Electric Cooperative wants your new home transition to be successful. Having the following information ready is helpful when applying for service: county, township and section number, subdivision and lot number, road name and daytime phone number.

OVERHEAD EXTENSION POLICY
.....For a permanent year-round dwelling, TEC will provide a single-phase line extension, excluding service drop, at no additional charge for a distance of 600 feet, of which no more than 300 feet is on the customer’s private property.
.....For a permanent seasonal type dwelling, TEC will provide at no extra charge a 200 foot extension, excluding service drop, from a main overhead power line.
.....Distribution line extensions in excess of the above footages will require an advance deposit of $4.50 per foot. During the fifteen year period immediately following the date of payment, the company will make refunds without interest up to $500 for each residential or farm customer(s) who directly connect to the extension. Such refunds will only be made to the original contributor and will not include any amount of contribution in aid of construction for underground service. The total refund shall not exceed the refundable portion of the contribution.

UNDERGROUND EXTENSION POLICY
.....For a permanent year-round dwelling, TEC will install an underground service lateral to a metering point for a new residence. The member shall make a nonrefundable contribution in aid of construction in the amount equal to the trench length in feet multiplied by $4.00, plus $50.00.  (Note:  Trench length can be no longer than 250 ft.)
