| How does the Home Guard™ Defender Plus work? |
After checking to see that your home has an adequate grounding system, a Home Guard™ Defender socket device is attached to your meter base by a qualified person. This device is designed to reduce potentially damaging external, high-voltage spikes and surges to a "safe" level before they enter your home. Finally, for your more sensitive equipment, a special five-piece plug-in starter kit will be provided for your use inside the home which includes:

| How do I get the Home Guard™ Defender Plus? |
Simply call TEC at 1-800-327-0166 or 989-658-8571 to schedule an appointment with a member services representative. The minimum lease period is for two years, with the monthly lease being conveniently added to your electric bill. The equipment, including the inside surge protector package, remains the property of TEC, according to the lease agreement.

The Home Guard™ Defender Plus is not a substitute for lightning rods or other devices intended to protect people from direct or nearby lightning strikes.

| What about the Warranty? |
The package warranty is simple! The service entrance device is accompanied by a down line repair or replacement warranty (up to $1,000.00) of all standard residential electro-mechanical devices (stove, refrigerator, washer, dryer, HVAC unit, etc.; excluding any micro-processor parts) should the service entrance device fail resulting in transient damage to your equipment. All plug-in devices carry a product replacement warranty and are accompanied by a down line repair or replacement warranty (up to $10,000.00) of properly connected equipment should damage occur due to failure of the Home Guard™ Defender plug-in. All warranties are through the manufacturer, not TEC. |
