Whether you're building a new home, moving into an existing one, or transferring service, Thumb Electric Cooperative makes it easy to get connected. Below you'll find everything you need to apply for electric service, including forms, extension policies, and helpful guidelines.
New Service Connection
If you’re building or moving into a home in TEC’s service area and need electric service installed, start here.
To Apply for New Service:
Complete the New Service Application Form
Pay a one-time membership fee of $5.00 (if you're not already a member)
Pay a $100.00 hookup fee
Be aware that line extension fees (overhead or underground) may apply
Helpful Info to Have Ready:
County, township, and section number
Subdivision and lot number (if applicable)
Road name and daytime contact information
Transfer Existing Service
Already a TEC member and just moving locations? Transfer your service in a few easy steps.
Complete the Transfer Service Application Form
Provide updated address and contact information
Meter number and final reading (if applicable)
Extension Policies
Overhead Extension Policy
$5.50 per foot deposit required
Refunds of $500 may apply per added service within 5 years (up to contribution amount)
Excludes contributions for underground service
Underground Extension Policy
Primary:
$8.50 per foot deposit + $2.50/foot trenching charge
Secondary (Standard 200 Amp):
$5.50 per trench foot + $50.00
Applicant-provided trench may qualify for credit
