New Service Connection

If you’re building or moving into a home in TEC’s service area and need electric service installed, start here.

To Apply for New Service:

Complete the New Service Application Form
Pay a one-time membership fee of $5.00 (if you're not already a member)
Pay a $100.00 hookup fee
Be aware that line extension fees (overhead or underground) may apply

Helpful Info to Have Ready:

New Service Application

MEMBERSHIP AGREEMENT

By submitting this application, the applicant agrees to become a member of Thumb Electric Cooperative (TEC) and to purchase electric service under the following terms: A $5.00 non-refundable membership fee is required upon acceptance. The applicant agrees to receive electric service at rates set by TEC’s Board of Directors, which may include a subscription to Michigan Country Lines. The applicant agrees to follow all TEC governing documents, including its Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, and any adopted rules and regulations. The applicant grants TEC permission to access their property as needed to install, maintain, or remove electric service equipment. This includes the right to trim or remove trees and vegetation to ensure safe and reliable service.

Extension Policies

Overhead Extension Policy

$5.50 per foot deposit required
Refunds of $500 may apply per added service within 5 years (up to contribution amount)
Excludes contributions for underground service

Underground Extension Policy

Primary:

$8.50 per foot deposit + $2.50/foot trenching charge

Secondary (Standard 200 Amp):

$5.50 per trench foot + $50.00
Applicant-provided trench may qualify for credit
