Rural Development Initiatives

Investing in Stronger Communities Across the Thumb.

At Thumb Electric Cooperative (TEC), we believe that reliable energy is just the beginning. We’re committed to supporting the growth and resilience of the rural communities we serve — not only through electric service, but by helping unlock funding and resources for local businesses, municipalities, and nonprofits.

Through partnerships with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and other rural development agencies, TEC works alongside qualified businesses and local leaders to secure loans and grants that strengthen our region’s economy and improve quality of life.

  • Loan guarantees to support the growth of rural businesses and cooperatives.

  • Low-interest loans for community development projects and small businesses.

  • Grants that assist small and emerging rural businesses with technical assistance or capital needs.

  • Support for tech-driven innovation and cooperative development.

  • Help for municipalities and nonprofits to improve long-term planning and service delivery.

  • Access to federal initiatives that serve underserved and economically challenged areas.
